ALBUQUERQUE - On Friday, June 15, 2012, Mayor Richard J. Berry recognized an officer from the Albuquerque Police Department for his role in saving the life of a woman at an Isotopes game. This week’s Friday’s Hero is Officer Robert Stockton.

While working the Isotopes game last month Officer Stockton was patrolling his area when he noticed a woman in distress and immediately went to her to try to figure out what was wrong.

Officer Stockton quickly noticed that the woman seemed to be choking and needed help. He performed the Heimlich maneuver on the woman and after three attempts was successful in getting the food dislodged. The thankful woman was able to return to watching the game and enjoying her evening because of the life-saving actions taken by Officer Stockton.

Officer Stockton’s immediate action and alertness saved this woman’s life, and reinforces the multi-faceted roles that police officers are always implementing. Officer Stockton went above and beyond and was aware of his environment and this led to yet another citizen being protected by and APD Officer.
