Mayor Richard J. Berry and First Lady Maria Berry Accept Grant Proposals for Charity Gala
Selected charities will be the recipients of the 2010 Charity Gala. The focus this year will be on non-profits specializing in elderly care, homelessness, and job creation.
The event is themed, “A Night on the Red Capret: A Celebration of Albuquerque Film.” After several years at the Albuquerque BioPark, the Gala returns downtown. The Albuquerque Convention Center Ballrooms will host the event. The Hyatt Regency, Doubletree Hotel, and Hotel Andaluz have already committed to giving discounted room rates to gala guests.
“Albuquerque is very proud that a popular movie industry magazine ranked Albuquerque as the number one place to make a movie,” Mayor Berry said. “This is our way to celebrate that while giving back to our non-profit community.”
Mayor and Mrs. Berry are asking corporations and individuals to purchase a sponsorship package. Packages range from $3,000-15,000 and include fun incentives such as a private dinner with the Mayor and First Lady and VIP tickets to a private party with the Mayor and First Lady. Tables and individual tickets for the 2010 Charity Gala can be purchased as well.
“This night is going to be elegant, it’s going to be fun, and it’s going to be a fantastic way to give back to our local charities,” Mrs. Berry said. “We need the whole city to come out and support these great causes.”
Grant proposals will only be accepted online at cabq.gov/mayor/charity-gala. The deadline for submissions is March 9, 2010 at 5:00 p.m. MST.
