Business Woman Roxanna Meyers to Fill Vacancy

ALBUQUERQUE, NM – Today Mayor Richard J. Berry appointed longtime District 2 resident and business woman Roxanna E. Meyers to fill the recently vacated District 2 seat on the City Council.

Ms. Meyers is a successful entrepreneur and community leader. As president of Century Sign Builders she has grown her business into a $5 million global company headquartered in Albuquerque.  In tandem with building a successful small business, Ms. Meyers has used her professional skills as a community activist serving on a variety of non-profit boards and committees. "Ms. Meyers proactively sought the position on the Council as a natural continuation of her commitment to her district and our community." said Mayor Berry "After meeting with her it became very evident that she has a passion for Albuquerque, for small business and for issues that matter to our community. I could see a real fit for her on the Council.  I am confident that her common sense approach to getting things done combined with her business experience and energy will serve Albuquerque well."

"I love this city and I am very excited to have a chance to serve." said Ms. Meyers "As a long time District 2 resident, I am delighted to have the opportunity to continue to give back to my community in a meaningful way. I see so much potential in Albuquerque and I am honored to have the chance to play a significant role in shaping our future."

Ms. Meyers was sworn in this afternoon and will participate in the next regularly scheduled Council meeting on December 17, 2012.
