June 15, 2017

ALBUQUERQUE, NM – Mayor Richard J. Berry, the Mayor’s Office of Veterans Affairs and the Department of Senior Affairs will honor twelve more veterans who will be added to the existing Los Volcanes Senior Center Veterans Wall on Thursday, June 15, 2017, at 9 a.m.

Since July 1, 2014, a total of 199 pictures proudly display the stories of senior veterans in our community within the six senior centers and two multigenerational centers.

The wall at the Los Volcanes Senior Center was created in April 2015 and honored 28 veterans. This will be the second celebration at the Los Volcanes Senior Center and the Department of Senior Affairs will continue to honor all veterans who attend senior and multigenerational centers throughout Albuquerque for their time and heroic efforts. Mayor Richard J. Berry said, “These veterans have stepped forward to protect and defend our country, state, and city, often putting their lives on the line for our freedom.  The City of Albuquerque is proud to honor our veterans for their sacrifices. It is a great accomplishment that each center has honored its Veteran members.  I am glad to see that we are adding more seniors to the walls that honor senior Veteran’s in the senior and multigenerational centers.”
