April 3, 2014
Albuquerque- Earlier this afternoon, along with Albuquerque Fire Department Chief David Downey, Mayor Richard J. Berry hosted a fire preparedness forum including a number of local and state fire protection agencies tasked with prevention and mitigation. The various speakers shared their predictive assessments as well as tactical plans they are putting into place in anticipation of a potentially active fire season.
"We know that conditions are such that well-planned coordination and preparation are critical in preventing and mitigating the impact of fire in our community. Bringing the primary stakeholders together is a key component to ensure we are doing everything we can to prevent fires in our community and surrounding areas," stated Mayor Berry.
In addition to the Albuquerque Fire Department, participants included representatives of Southwest Area Predictive Services, Albuquerque Zone Dispatch, and the New Mexico State Forestry Division's Bernalillo District.
