Today Mayor Richard J. Berry appointed longtime District 7 resident and former State Legislator Janice Arnold-Jones to fill the recently vacated District 7 seat on the City Council.

ALBUQUERQUE, NM - Today Mayor Richard J. Berry appointed longtime District 7 resident and former State Legislator Janice Arnold-Jones to fill the recently vacated District 7 seat on the City Council.
"I worked with Janice during my time in the legislature and found her to be very professional and passionate about her commitment to good government," said Mayor Berry. “I received over 130 calls and emails of support for Ms. Arnold-Jones appointment." said Mayor Berry
Ms. Arnold-Jones will be sworn in this afternoon and will participate in tonight’s Council meeting.
"As a long time District 7 resident, I am delighted to have the opportunity to continue to serve my community in a meaningful way. Having worked for eight years in the New Mexico State Legislature I am prepared to hit the ground running on the City Council. I have a proven track record for transparency, pro-business, and smart tax policy. I see so much potential in Albuquerque I am honored to have the chance to play a significant role in shaping our future," said Ms. Arnold-Jones.

For support and advocacy of libraries and librarians as the use of the internet changed and expanded the role of libraries
As the wife of a career Naval Officer Janice has enjoyed a diverse business career spanning construction, banking, media and production, to contract support to Sandia National Laboratories for the last 12 years.
