Mayor Announces New Family & Community Services Director

Albuquerque- Mayor Richard J. Berry announced today that he will be promoting Doug Chaplin to the Director of the Family & Community Services Department. Chaplin has been the Associate Director of the Department since 2011, and has been with the City of Albuquerque since 2005.
Chaplin will oversee the department, which is noted for operating all of the Albuquerque Community Centers, managing the Mayor’s Albuquerque Heading Home initiative, implementing the city’s affordable housing policies, and handling multiple redevelopment projects within the city.
"Working with Doug over the past four years, I’ve seen that he is truly dedicated to this line of work and to our city,” said Mayor Berry. “He is a great fit for this department, and I know his in-depth knowledge will help us continue to improve the meaningful services we offer to this community."
As a lifelong resident of Albuquerque and UNM graduate, Chaplin has more than 28 years of experience working in the private and public sector. His experience includes working in real estate, project management, planning, consulting, property management, housing development, and neighborhood stabilization. As the Associate Director of Family and Community, Chaplin assisted with the oversight and administration of the department including budgets exceeding $35 million along with $60 million in social services contracts

Chaplin’s annual salary will be approximately $95,000.
