Town Hall to Focus on Internet Crimes Against Children

Town Hall to Focus on Internet Crimes Against Children

The FBI's Innocent Images Initiative seeks to protect children from online predators.

Mayor Martin J. Chávez, along with the Albuquerque Police Department, Bernalillo County Sheriff’s Department, and the Federal Bureau of Investigation are proud to present the Internet Crimes Against Children Town Hall Meeting.

When: March 11th, 6:00 pm
Where: UNM Continuing Education Center (map)
Price: Free Admission

This event will feature FBI agents from the Innocent Images Initiative in Washington, D.C., as well as APD Chief Ray Schultz, and Bernalillo County Sheriff Darren White. These presenters will discuss the prevalence of internet crime victimizing children and their families, and will present information about internet safety measures to protect children from predators.

Shocking Statistics:

  • An estimated 50,000 child predators use the internet to ingratiate themselves with children.
  • Research indicates only about 20% of parents are actively involved in their children's internet usage.

Our children’s safety, and their very lives depend on it!
