Albuquerque, NM - Forbes magazine released its list of the top cities in the United States for retirement recently. This list included twenty five cities from around the country and included the City of Albuquerque in its June 25 edition “25 Best Places To Retire In 2012” page(s) 194, 195 & Online.
The formula used by Forbes included rating the cities based on the economics of taxes, cost of living and the current unemployment ratings. Additional consideration was given to quality of life issues including weather conditions, crime rate, availability of medical care and whether a community environment lends itself to an active lifestyle.
"This speaks to what all of us already know - Albuquerque is a great place to live. Primarily, because so many people care about making it special,” said Mayor Richard J. Berry. “From the mountains to our business community we are without a doubt a vibrant city with a tremendous future ahead of us."
According to Forbes, the reasons for selecting Albuquerque as an attractive place for those seeking retirement is primarily drawn from our good weather, low taxes, below-average cost of living, and opportunities for an active-lifestyle.
This list puts the City of Albuquerque up there with the ranks of Atlanta, Georgia, San Antonio, Texas, and Salt Lake City, Utah.
