“I am pleased that the Department of Senior Affairs has been a part of this special production that will highlight the music and dance of our State,” said Mayor Richard J. Berry.  “I am especially proud that Albuquerque’s seniors will be a part of this performance.”

The City of Albuquerque’s Department of Senior Affairs partnered with Frances Lujan to offer dance classes to seniors at various senior/multigenerational centers.  Participants will have a chance to showcase what they learned to our community during the Tarde de Oro performance.  These classes have been beneficial to seniors in a variety of ways.  “Some seniors have been able to learn a new dance while others have enjoyed the music and dances they once enjoyed as children,” said Jorja Armijo-Brasher, the Director of the City of Albuquerque Department of Senior Affairs.  “The classes not only provided an excellent socialization opportunity for the seniors, it also provided them with a fitness opportunity.”
