City Crew Goes Above and Beyond to Keep Pedestrians Safe and Traffic Moving
Albuquerque- Today, Mayor Richard J. Berry recognized a crew of six Department of Municipal Development (DMD) employees for their organized operational skills, and willingness to go above and beyond the call of duty. While working at one of the city’s busiest intersections, Larry Chavez, Bryan Navarette, Damian Gomez, Daniel Padilla, Greg Garcia, and Victor Line directed traffic and personally walked pedestrians across the street to ensure their safety, and for these actions they are being recognized as this week’s Employees of the Week.
The six DMD employees were working at the bustling intersection of Montgomery and San Mateo clearing channels of water and evaluating them for an upcoming re-cabling project, when the nearby traffic lights went into red flashing mode. When the traffic lights began to flash, Victor Line, the signal technician, immediately began to resolve the issue, working on the mechanics of the system. The rest of the crew stationed themselves around the intersection alternating between directing traffic and escorting pedestrians across the street to ensure their safety. Once the intersection was fully operational, the crew resumed the work they were out there conducting.
The thoughtfulness this crew displayed is a great example of their unwavering work ethic. By taking the extra step to keep traffic moving and pedestrians safe, they exemplify what it means to be a public servant- going above and beyond what is required at the service of others. It is for that example, that Larry Chavez, Damian Gomez, Bryan Navarette, Daniel Padilla, Greg Garcia, and Victor Line shown, that make this crew this week’s Employees of the Week.
