APD Officer Administers Lifesaving Efforts
August 26, 2016
Albuquerque- Today, Mayor Richard J. Berry recognized Officer Jose Brionez and Officer Brenda Solis with the Albuquerque Police Department (APD) for their life saving efforts to save an unresponsive man.
On August 7, 2015 Officer Jose Brionez and his partner Officer Brenda Solis responded to a call at Motel 6 regarding a man who was found pass out. Upon their arrival, the officers located the man and determined that he was completely unresponsive, not reacting to anything the officers did. While awaiting medical personnel Officer Solis secured the scene while Officer Brionez, confident in his training and previous experience, began administering CPR to the man. After several minutes of CPR the man’s pulse was restored. When the Albuquerque Fire Department and Albuquerque Ambulance arrived on scene they took over CPR and immediately transported the victim for further treatment. The medical team credited Officer Brionez with restoring oxygen to the victim’s brain and his pulse.
Through Officer Solis’ diligence to maintain a secured area which allowed Officer Brionez to commit his undivided attention to the victim, this man’s life was saved. It is for these reasons and actions that Officer Jose Brionez and Officer Brenda Solis were selected as this week’s City of Albuquerque Friday’s Heroes.
