APD COAST Unit Shows Care and Support for Student
July 11, 2014
Albuquerque- Today Chief Administrative Officer Rob Perry, on behalf of Mayor Richard J. Berry, honored two APD COAST Unit members who responded to a call at a local high school and displayed extra care and compassion for a young girl. Yvette Garcia and Tasha Hart, civilian personnel of the APD COAST Unit, are this week’s Friday’s Heroes.
Garcia and Hart were called out to a local high school where a female student had disclosed that she had been abused by her mother. When Garcia and Hart arrived at the high school, they went above and beyond the call of duty. They volunteered to take the student to the store and purchased some clothes for her. They also bought her some food and personal hygiene products. They stayed with her until CYFD arrived at the scene.
Throughout the whole ordeal, Garcia and Hart were thoughtful and did what they could to alleviate the concerns of the student. The great care shown by these two individuals brought encouragement and support to a teen who greatly needed their help.
