Albuquerque on Top of SustainLane’s List
Mayor Chávez is happy to announce that the City of Albuquerque is Number 18 on SustainLane’s Top 50 2008 US City Sustainability Rankings
The City of Albuquerque is the highest ranked desert city in the SustainLane’s 2008 rankings. One of the reasons for the City's high ranking is Mayor Martin Chávez’s commitment to the AlbuquerqueGreen program. The people at SustainLane really enjoyed the City's interactive sustainability website.
Other reasons Albuquerque was chosen for SustainLane’s List:
- 20 percent of city government’s electricity comes from wind
- Parking at city meters is free for hybrid and alternative fuel vehicles
- Five indoor city swimming pools will soon be heated with energy from the sun
