Albuquerque- Today Mayor Richard J. Berry and First Lady Maria announced the non-profit organizations that will be the recipients of the 2012 Mayor and First Lady’s Charity Gala.

This year’s the recipients are composed of organizations or groups that provide art, and cultural activities within our community. In September 2011, the Mayor and First Lady requested proposals be submitted online to apply for the funds. The following 501(c)(3) organizations will benefit from dollars raised at this year’s gala:

Art in the Schools
Keshet Dance Company
United Way of Central New Mexico

The theme of this year’s event is "Celebrate New Mexico’s Centennial." Just like the 2010 and 2011 Charity Gala, this year the event is staying downtown. The Albuquerque Convention Center Ballrooms will host the event. The Hyatt Regency, Hotel Andaluz, Embassy Suites, and Hotel Parq Central have already committed to giving discounted room rates to gala guests.

The Charity Gala kicks off the weekend-long celebration of New Mexico’s 100th Birthday, followed by an action-packed weekend in Albuquerque’s historic downtown. Several roads along Central Ave. will be shutdown to host live music, food, art, and more. People from all regions of New Mexico are expected to converge for this historic, culturally enchanting weekend.

Mayor and Mrs. Berry are asking corporations and individuals to purchase a sponsorship package. Packages range from $3,000- $25,000 and include fun incentives such as a private dinner with the Mayor and First Lady and VIP tickets to a private party with the Mayor and First Lady. Tables and individual tickets for the 2012 Charity Gala can be purchased as well.

The past two Charity Galas have raised more than $330,000 for local non-profits.
