Steve Senac works at the ABQ BioPark, which is part of the Cultural Services Department.
Last Labor Day, a couple, the Stanfields, were visiting Albuquerque for the weekend. Mrs. Stanfield had heard great things about the Albuquerque Zoo and Aquarium. Unfortunately, the Stanfields’ GPS system wasn’t giving them accurate directions to the zoo and aquarium. The Stanfields were lost until they spotted a couple outside a home in the nearby neighborhood doing yard work. They pulled over to ask the couple for directions and it turned out that the gentleman who was outside doing yard work is an Albuquerque City employee for the Zoo, Steve Senac.
Mr. and Mrs. Stanfield got their directions and they also visited with the Senacs for about ten to fifteen minutes. After they were done and about to leave Mr. Senac pulled out his business card from his wallet and wrote on the back of the card, “Pass for 2 Adults” and he signed it. Mrs. Senac then handed the Stanfields a bag of homemade cookies and a couple of bottles of water.
“We were just floored by their kindness!” said Mr. Stanfield. “It means a heck of a lot when somebody takes the time to go above and beyond and simply be kind. He could have easily pointed us on our way, and gone about his day, but he took the time to show kindness to strangers.”
Mr. and Mrs. Stanfield reported that they had a wonderful four day stay in Albuquerque, thanks in part to both Mr. and Mrs. Senac.
“Based on the feedback I received from the Stanfields, it is clear that Steve Senac is an employee who loves his job and appreciates and respects the customers he serves. As Mayor, that’s something I am very proud of and grateful for in our employees,” said Mayor Berry.
