Clay African Pots and Drums
Presented by local Clay Artist, Celeste Boals.This workshop will provide an overview of forms and the process of building large, clay vessels and drums. Rotate, orbit, coil, paddle, mold, and layer, in the primordial traditions of African pottery making. Using natural tools and rhythmic methods, our focus will be on large, exotic vessel building. There will be a slide show, demonstration, discussion, and some hands-on interaction. No previous clay experience necessary. Sign up at the Information Desk. Poetry Circle

For our Winter Poetry Circle, we’ll consider poems by friends and fellow poets Elizabeth Bishop and Robert Lowell. We’ll be reading Lowell’s “Skunk Hour”, which he dedicated to Bishop, and “The Armadillo” by Bishop, which she dedicated to Lowell.
All are welcome to join our discussion of these two poets, whose complete
correspondence was recently published in the book Words in Air. Pick up copies of the poems at the Information Desk.

Celebrate the 100th anniversary of the birth of master director Akira Kurosawa with this special showing of Dreams. The late Kurosawa, who created this film when he was in his eighties, had no peer when presenting his reflections on life through hauntingly beautiful cinematography and subtle characterizations. It is rated PG with a runtime of 2 hours.
