Presenters & Producers
All of the events that take place at the KiMo Theater are created, presented or produced by various individuals, community and private organizations that rent the KiMo. These persons or organizations are known as the Presenter or Producer.
The KiMo's rental availability is "First come - First served."
None of the events taking place at the KiMo are presented or organized by the KiMo staff.
Most of the Presenters that use the KiMo are local non-profit organizations, some are commercial Producers. The name of an event's Presenter is posted in the listing for that event and is usually a link to their Webpage.
Information about upcoming events is not available for the public until the Presenter has confirmed and signed their rental paperwork, then their event is posted to our Upcoming Events page and included in the next e-mail to our Mailing List.
Legal Notice & Disclaimer
The KiMo's administrative staff will be unable to provide you with complete information about an Event if the Presenter/Producer has not provided it to us. Some scheduled events, or information about them, may change with short notice.
The City of Albuquerque and the KiMo Theatre assume no responsibility for circumstances beyond their control, or the content of Events presented at the KiMo, nor do these Events necessarily reflect the opinions, standards or policies of the City of Albuquerque, its officials, agents or employees.
What does the Presenter/Producer do?
The Presenter contracts with/hires the Performer(s) and/or creates the event, locates an appropriate place to stage the performance, and provides (pays) for all services needed for the presentation.
They are also responsible for; advertising the event, obtaining all day-of-event staff, and informing the public and theatre management if any of their plans change.
If you would like additional information about a specific Presenter, or their Event you may contact them directly. When available, a link to their website is posted in their event's listing on our Performance Schedule page, or you may contact our Business Office, (505) 768-3522.
The KiMo's administrative staff is responsible for processing all: scheduling, rental and fiscal operation records.
We operate the KiMo's Ticket Office during business hours and directly supervise all uses (rentals) of the Facility for public safety, rental contract compliance and loss prevention.
We also oversee the physical operation, repairs and maintenance of the building and all its equipment.
We offer some referral services for other needs of our Renters.
The KiMo staff does not function as the Presenter for any events taking place at the KiMo.
Future Performance / Performer Information
Chances are that the KiMo staff doesn't know if or when specific performers will be appearing at the KiMo in the future.
None of the events taking place at the KiMo are presented or scheduled by the KiMo staff. We don't have any information about future events until an independent Event Presenter contacts us to inquire about renting the KiMo Theatre and scheduling the event here.
If a Presenter intends to bring a particular performer to the KiMo but they haven't confirmed their arrangements for the performance, some information may not be available to the public.
If you are wondering why a specific Performer hasn't been scheduled here it's probably because they haven't been asked.
A performing Artist doesn't just decide to play somewhere, they are hired by someone willing to take the financial risk. That is the function of the Presenter/Producer, they create events by contracting with the performers and paying for everything needed to present the event, with the belief that enough people will buy tickets to make the expense worthwhile.
Contact a local Presenter and ask them to consider bringing your favorite Performer to the KiMo Theatre.

Financial Risks
The Presenter of an event has a great many expenses. In order to stay in business they have to take in more money from their events than it costs to present them.
Many variables enter into their ability to present any particular event; Artist/Performer fees, lodging, transportation & meals, advertising costs, co-sponsors, performing facility & equipment rental fees, crew & staff labor costs, projected audience turnout, etc.
Non-Profit Presenters have an advantage because they can solicit tax exempt grants, gifts and donations to help support the event, without this benefit a Presenter's income is solely dependent on ticket sales.
The Presenter must divide the estimated expenses for an event by the seating capacity of the facility to help determine the ticket price(s).
If the total costs for an event cannot be offset by it's anticipated income, with less than a full house, at a ticket price that an audience is willing to pay, the Presenter will probably elect to not have the event.
Consequently, performance venues with a small seating capacity (like the KiMo) don't get expensive or big name performing acts unless a significant portion of the Event's expenses are provided by other sources.
Until the KiMo Theatre has a funding source to pay for Performers and all the other costs associated with being a presenter, we cannot hire performers, performing acts or touring shows for presentation to the citizens of our community.
