WAVE Reading Health

WAVE Reading Health Navigators are trustworthy trained & certified volunteers who work with students to help them achieve their own optimal reading health leading to academic and life success. It is the goal of WAVE Reading Health that every child in New Mexico will read at their optimal level by the Third Grade.

The Navigators will work primarily in Kindergarten through 2nd Grade classrooms. Navigators will work with several small groups of children, one group at a time, to optimize reading and cognitive skills and assist in advancing the child’s mindset, attitude and performance character. Each classroom will be assigned a Navigator 4-5 days a week.

Currently we have opportunities available at 4 different locations:
Ralph J Bunche Academy (a charter school off of San Mateo and Central)- times available between 8:30 a.m. and 11:00 a.m.
Boys & Girls Clubs Heights Branch (off of San Mateo and Comanche)- times available between 2:30-6:00 p.m.
