The Plans Review Section of the Fire Prevention Bureau has the responsibilty of reviewing every set of plans—which are submitted to the City of Albuquerque for building permits—for compliance with the 2003 International Fire Code and the National Fire Protection Association (NFPA) standards.
Upon completion of the building project, the Plans Review Section performs an on-site inspection to insure that the project was completed according to what has been approved by the Albuquerque Fire Department.
In addition to City-permitted plans, the Plans Review Section reviews and performs all inspection on plans for fire alarm systems, hood extinguishing systems, fire sprinkler systems, preliminary site plans, accessibility for fire department apparatus at new buildings, fire flow determination on new building hydrant systems, and the placement of new fire hydrants for AFD use. Upon approval constuction permits will be issued.
