With the summer monsoon season upon us, it is important that parents, community members, and the public safety departments make flood channel, ditch, and arroyo safety a priority.

The Swim and Play Pass program is organized by the "Ditch and Water Safety Task Force," a multi-agency task force dedicated to educating residents in Albuquerque and surrounding areas about the danger of ditches and arroyos. Now in its 19th year, the program is specifically designed to encourage children to swim in community pools and skate at city parks as a means of safe play.

The Swim and Play Pass Program encourages Albuquerque’s youth to avoid the temptation of playing in the city’s deadly flood channels, ditches and arroyos.

During the summer months, children are often drawn to these locations as places to plan and cool off.
