In celebration of Wildfire Awareness Weeks in New Mexico, March 25 – April 7, the public is invited to join local firefighters in raising awareness about wildland fire and having some fun in the sun with the first-ever 5k Wildland Firefighter Fun Run and Walk.

Participants will gather at the west end of the parking lot at the National Hispanic Cultural Center and run or walk along the nearby bosque path.

Before and after, participants are invited to visit wildfire preparedness booths and have their pictures taken with Smokey Bear and Sparky the Fire Dog.


Registration is on the west side of the National Hispanic Cultural Center parking lot.

Participants receive a Wildland Firefigher Foundation T-shirt.


  • Onsite registration - 8 a.m. to 10 a.m.
  • Run & Walk - 10 a.m.

Donation of $25 per participant, which supports the families of wildland firefighters who lost their lives fighting wildfires as well as wildland firefighters injured in the line of duty.
