Learn Hands Only CPR

The Albuquerque Fire Department introduced Hands Only CPR training to locals and visitors at the Albuquerque International Balloon Fiesta. During the nine day event, 3,000 adults and children where trained in the lifesaving technique involving no mouth-to-mouth contact.

The hands-only technique increases the likelihood of surviving cardiac arrest emergencies outside a medical setting. Studies have shown that being trained in Hands Only CPR can make the lifesaving difference when someone suffers from a sudden cardiac emergency.

Sudden cardiac arrest is a leading cause of death in the U.S., more than 420,000 out-of-hospital cardiac arrests occur annually in the United States. By calling 911 and performing Hands Only CPR to the beat of the classic disco song "Stayin' Alive," you can double or even triple a victim's chance of survival.

Albuquerque Fire Department personnel will continue to train the public by hosting and attending events throughout the city. To attend our next Hands Only CPR Training, see the event calendar at http://www.cabq.gov/fire/hands-only-cpr

The training is short and includes a video and practice time on a mannequin. Join the thousands of people who are already trained. The training is free and may someday help save life.
