The mission of our Community Centers is to provide programs that meet community needs, enhance the quality of life and promote community involvement through the provision of recreation, cultural activities, education, health, wellness and fitness activities, as well as family life activities in facilities that are well maintained, accessible and safe.
The Community Recreation Division manages 23 Community Centers located throughout the city of Albuquerque. Besides the traditional recreational programs that take place at the centers, many new and innovative programs are now part of the services offered for children (from 6 through 15 years old), youth and adults at these facilities.
Four Centers: Cesar Chavez, Los Duranes, Taylor Ranch and Thomas Bell, serve as a senior meal site. Select community centers are also available for various types of rentals.
Gymnasiums, ceramic rooms, meeting rooms, kitchens, multipurpose activity rooms, weight/fitness rooms, pre-school rooms, and restrooms with showers are some of the components found in the centers.
Outdoor amenities vary from center to center and include combinations of play equipment, athletic fields, multipurpose courts and parks.
