The Division of Child
and Family Development Services has a partnership with Albuquerque
Public Schools and community agencies to offer comprehensive child
and family development programs whose mission is to promote empowerment
of families, including teen parents by, enhancing the unique strengths
of each family through intensive, comprehensive and integrated
supported services. These services include an Early Head Start
Program with eight sites for income eligible families with children
birth to 3 years of age and 18 child development centers for preschool
children, ages 3-5 years of age, of working or student parents
who meet income guidelines.
The child development centers emphasize developmentally appropriate curriculum including early literacy in a safe, quality, learning environment. The Division of Child and Family Development Services is committed to supporting families in working towards self-sufficiency and raising a generation of healthy, self-realized children as a basic foundation for economic development.
