Featured band of the week: Vertigo Venus
Based out of Albuquerque, NM, Vertigo Venus has a unique sound unlike that of any other; powerful and energetic, the band meshes many styles of Punk Rock, Glam, and Electronic rock to create a Synthpunk hybrid that your ears haven’t yet heard. Fronted by Jeff Cannon (Vocals/Keyboards), and brother Chris Cannon (Guitars/Backing Vocals), the band is rounded out by Brian Botkiller (Drums/Percussion) and Jess Crockett (Keyboards).
Vertigo Venus is not a band to be trifled with; with Jeff’s front-man antics reminiscent of Iggy Pop and Freddie Mercury and an energy between the members not common in most bands, they kick out high-energy original tunes including “Monday Mourning”, “Everybody Down”, and the ultra-catchy, sing-along-like-you-mean it “Punk Rock Cheerleader”. One thing is for sure; you won’t soon forget a Vertigo Venus live show.
Live? Yes, quite alive. Vertigo Venus isn’t like every other band on a stage, having played alongside the likes of The Red Elvises, The Birthday Massacre, Mindelss Self Indulgence, Chemlab, My Life with the Thrill Kill Kult, Captured! By Robots, Voltaire, and more. With a sound that will take you from Punk to Glam Dance faster than you can say “Brutal”, the band truly takes the stage and gives the crowd what they’re looking for.
Vertigo Venus plays and tours consistently, to the delight of fans of all ages. The band’s music is currently distributed in Hot Topic stores in the western states, and has found heavy radio play with their latest release, “Success or Suicide”. Always exploring music and its many avenues, Vertigo Venus is a creative and original band, moving forward to do the things many others dare not try.
