City of Albuquerque Celebrates National Payroll Week

City Payroll Professionals work to ensure City employees receive paychecks.

This Labor Day week, Sept. 2-6, 2013, America's workers will celebrate payday and the payroll professionals who pay them.

National Payroll Week recognizes the contributions of America's 156 million workers and the payroll professionals who ensure they're paid accurately and on-time, every time.

Together, through the payroll withholding system, they contribute, collect, report, and deposit about $1.78 trillion, or 70.5 percent, of the annual revenue of the U.S. Treasury.

City of Albuquerque Impact

The City of Albuquerque Central Payroll Department boasts three Certified Payroll Professionals.

"Payroll professionals are responsible for one of the most important things to all of America's workers-their paychecks-as well as collecting 70.5 percent of the US Treasury's revenue annually," said Dan Maddux, executive director of the American Payroll Association. "During NPW, we thank payroll professionals for their hard work to ensure the accuracy and timeliness that we and our nation depend on."

For National Payroll Week, the APA and its more than 20,000 members educate the public about their paychecks and payroll-related benefits to help employees stretch their paychecks.

The week also sees volunteers head into communities around the country to teach paycheck basics to teens.
