Description

Join us for a night of energetic and electrifying clawhammer banjo, bass, percussive dance, storytelling songs both old and new and deep emotive vocals.

Workshops will be held Sunday, April 7 at Apply Mountain Music.

Old-Time Harmony Singing

12-1:30 p.m.- Using Carter Family-style harmonies as a jumping off place, we will work with three part singing in this beautiful style. Finding harmony lines that sometimes weave around the melody, sometimes cross or create unison, students will develop a better ability to hear and find parts, as well as learn what gives these harmonies their particular old-time country sound and power. No singing experience is necessary.

Clawhammer Banjo All Levels

2-3:30 p.m.- What is that rhythmic whomp that makes clawhammer banjo so funky? Evie Ladin marries melody, harmony and rhythm in a distinctive style that drives tunes along and gives depth to songs. A patient and experienced teacher, Evie aims to give all levels of players something to chew on. Students should have the basic bum-diddy and be ready to learn some tunes and licks.
