The Public Art Program is requesting proposals for a public art project in downtown Albuquerque.
The site for the artwork is located at the southern downtown area at the junction between 1st and 2nd Streets, bordered on the southern edge by the Lead Avenue overpass at a parking structure and will support a unique, one-of-a-kind artwork that could become a destination for residents and visitors alike. It is a compact, tight site with narrow spaces and an overall lack of thematic branding. It is an urban space that suggests a whimsical, conceptual or off-beat artwork that will encourage a walk to view it.
For more information please download the PDF Project Prospectus.
Please watch this video "walk through" of the proposed project site to get a better idea of the space.
As part of the Silver Gardens Project, the City of Albuquerque is providing digital images of the site for use in proposals.
Deadline for all submissions is 5 p.m. MST April 20, 2011.
The Public Art Program expects to execute a contract in the spring of 2011. Project updates will be available on the Public Art website and our new e-newsletter.
