This workshop is full, please register for another workshop later in the month.
The Hahn Arroyo Project will improve flood control and water quality along a portion of the Hahn Arroyo. When completed, this stretch of the Hahn Arroyo will be enhanced with a new state-of-the-art water filtration system, new seating, improved walkways and bicycle paths.
The new and improved Hahn Arroyo is also a site for community-based public art.
The Public Art Program is working with AMAFCA and the Harwood Art Center to incorporate mosaic tiled designs along sections of the arroyo pathways.
These mosaic designs will utilize a patented system called Lithomosaic™, which allows the designs to be fabricated in a studio setting and then installed during the concrete pour.
Nan Masland, the Public Art Coordinator for the project, gathered input from the community about the designs and is working with children from the Wells Park and Barelas Community Centers to begin making them. You can be a part of this public art process by attending one of the many Community Tile Workshops!
