About Revíva

This Albuquerque based group formed in late 2009, quickly picking up one of the largest and most dedicated fan bases in New Mexico and the Southwest. The mission of the band is to revive themselves and their community by using music as a tool to shed light on injustices with issues like racial and social inequality, climate change, immigration, and human rights.

The band has been able to play continuously for 11 years by adjusting members as needed, most notably when lead singer and founding member Chris Brennan served in the US Peace Corps from 2011-2014. The current rendition consists of Brennan, original drummer Ragon Espinoza, bassist Adam Moffett, guitarist Brian Shonerd, and Rick Gonzales, who joined the group in 2015 and co-writes and sings with Chris while also playing keyboard and melodica.

Revíva has played sold out venues and festivals in Colorado, Arizona, California, and their home state alongside nationally touring groups like The Wailers, Ozomatli, Stick Figure, The Green, and Tribal Seeds. The band has adjusted to the current situation by playing weekly virtual shows as a way to fund-raise for causes close to their heart. Their most recent album Equanimity was produced by renowned reggae bassist Pablo Stennett of Ziggy Marley, and engineered by the legendary Errol Brown, who has worked with reggae bands like Bob Marley and the Wailers and Rebelution. The style of music they produce is a product of them growing up in New Mexico, blending reggae with rock and Latin music, and singing in both English and Spanish. Their fifth studio album is in the works and is due out February 2021.
