Heights Summerfest 2016
Your favorite way to spend a summer night is back! Heights Summerfest returns to North Domingo Baca Park on Saturday, June 11, 2016 from 5-10:30 p.m. Located on Wyoming and Carmel, just North of Paseo del Norte. Join us for Rusted Root, free children's activities, local brews, great food, an artisan market and more!
All Summerfests are free to the public. This is a rain or shine event. Well behaved, leashed pets are welcome.
North Domingo Baca Park (Google Maps) is located North of Paseo Del Norte, on Wyoming, between Carmel Ave. and Corona Ave.
Parking will be available at La Cueva High School (Google Maps) and at New Covenant Church (Google Maps). There will be shuttles running from La Cueva to North Domingo Baca Park from 4:30 p.m. to 11 p.m. Or ride your bike and take advantage of the free Bike Valet provided by Esperanza Bike Shop.

Having collaborated with one another for two decades, Rusted Root, has honed the perfect combination of musical intuition, freedom and virtuosity, which has allowed them to organically shape shift their music into their own distinct and undeniable vision. With eight albums under their belt, over three million records sold worldwide and countless nights on the road, Rusted Root, transcends age, generations, cultures and musical styles.
Bassist and vocalist Patrick Norman says, “From the very first time we played music together, I knew we had something special. The music and the enjoyment of creating and playing with one another I feel is the driving force behind this band.” The powerhouse ensemble’s sweat-inducing and hypnotic live performances have allowed them to tour alongside everyone from Santana, Dave Matthews Band, The Allman Brothers Band, Robert Plant and Jimmy Page’s reunion tour and countless others.
The Porter Draw is an Alt-Country, Americana band from Albuquerque, NM. They have been key contributors to a flourishing New Mexico roots music movement since 2007 and have shared the stage with such greats as Greensky Bluegrass, Reverend Horton Heat, New Riders of the Purple Sage, Cross Canadian Ragweed, and Cadillac Sky. Fitting in at country honky-tonks and rock n' roll clubs alike. The Porter Draw have built a reputation for high energy, sweat-drenched shows coupled with tight harmonies of wistfully delicate lyrics of longing, heartbreak, and the American experience. They'll sing high lonesome with the bluegrass boys, command the stage like The Boss, and surprise you with a raucous vocals you haven't heard since your older sister made you listen to The Clash.
Opening musical act for Etta James, Bo Diddley, Ani DiFranco, Michael Franti, Leon Russell, and G. Love and Special Sauce. Telluride Blues Festival for years 2001 through 2008 with other musical guests such as James Brown, Johny Lang, John Mayer, Otis Taylor and Buddy Miles. The son of Greek-American restaurateurs, Alex Maryol grew up in Santa Fe New Mexico and was raised on the music of Chuck Berry, Fats Domino and Elvis Presley. He began songwriting during his teenage years while performing at smoky bars and coffee shops in downtown Santa Fe. While primarily influenced by blues greats such as Lightning Hopkins and Buddy Guy Alex maintained a love for all musical genres from classical to grunge. In his early twenties Alex gained notoriety by performing at festival favorites such as the Telluride Blues and Brews Festival and the King Biscuit Blues Festival.
Cali Shaw is fast becoming one of the most celebrated songwriters and performers across the Southwest. Working with some of the most talented and diverse musicians in the region, he’s consistently pushed the americana-folk-rock envelope beyond its traditional realms.Bolstered by rich vocal harmonies and intriguing arrangements, he creates a sound that’s at times as lush and orchestrated as it is foot-stomping and raw; all of which only serve to showcase the strength of his songwriting. From a rootsy, Earthy vibe to the almost magic and ethereal, his real-life lyrics and memorable choruses perfectly echo the album’s spirit.Cali Shaw performs regularly as solo, duo or up to a seven-piece festival-ready ensemble; who's dynamic and original performances captivates and embraces people of all generations.
Heights Summerfest is the perfect place to bring the kids, there will be loads of free children's activities! Get your face painted , or try your hand on the 25’ rock climbing wall. Excite your little biologist at the BioVan with hands on, or not so hands on learning with shark fins, cactus and much more. They can also reach for the stars in one of the many jumpers. Kids can also learn how to create their own keepsakes with workshops from Home Depot. All of this and more, free at Heights Summerfest!
