About the Performers
In their eighteen years together as a band, celebrated Los Angeles culture-mashers Ozomatli have gone from hometown heroes to being named U.S. State Department Cultural Ambassadors.
Their music -- a notorious urban-Latino-and-beyond collision of hip hop and salsa, dancehall and cumbia, samba and funk, merengue and comparsa, East LAR&B and New Orleans second line, Jamaican ragga and Indian raga -- has long followed a key mantra: it will take you around the world by taking you around Los Angeles.
Sabor is composed of five seasoned musicians with combined music experience of more than 30 years. Their goal is to provide New Mexico and the surrounding areas with quality entertainment while maintaining the utmost professionalism.
Sabor specialize in all special events including, weddings, anniversaries, and corporate parties. Their unique sound and vast array of music selection -- which includes Latin, pop, classic rock, oldies, and country -- make them the perfect variety band for any occasion.
The Blue Ventures
Louis Sanchez, manager of The Blue Ventures was born in Alcalde. He taught himself to play the guitar at the age of 15 when his Aunt gave him a guitar. From the age of 20, Louis always had a musical group.
Louis taught his children to play the guitar. As they grew older, Louis' children and younger brother started playing in the band until the whole band was composed of family.
The Blue Ventures released their 12th CD "Eres Mi Padre" in 2012. The title song of the CD is a tribute to Louis from his children and was written by Harold Sanchez who is the songwriter of the group.
In 1999 Louis was recognized for his musical contributions with the Life Time Achievement Award.
