Thousands will participate in the fundraiser for the ABQ BioPark.
May 3, 2013
Twelve thousand people will lace up their running shoes and join us for the 28th Annual Run for the Zoo...and Walk with Us Too on Sunday, May 5. The popular event is sold out!
Run for the Zoo is the largest road race in New Mexico and the largest fundraising event for the ABQ BioPark. Hosted by the New Mexico BioPark Society, the race includes events for all ages and fitness levels. This year, we have three USA Track & Field certified events (half marathon, 10K and 5K timed races), a 5K Fitness Run/Walk (our most popular event) and a 1 Mile Fun Run/Walk that takes participants on an exciting route through the back of the Zoo.
"We are thrilled to have reached our goal and the max capacity for all of the events," said Judi Civerolo, New Mexico BioPark Society Special Events Director. "It's going to be a great fundraiser and a really fun day for amateur and professional runners alike."
Registered participants should arrive early to accommodate for traffic and parking. A free park and ride shuttle is available from 6 a.m. - 2 p.m. from the parking lots of the Aquarium/Botanic Garden or Albuquerque Little Theatre. Please wear comfortable shoes and appropriate clothing for the day's weather. If you are not participating but wish to cheer participants, please remain clear of the course at all times. Above all, be safe and have fun!
ALL proceeds from Run for the Zoo benefit the ABQ BioPark Zoo, Aquarium, Botanic Garden and Tingley Beach. Run for the Zoo is organized by the New Mexico BioPark Society and sponsored by Presbyterian, along with many other great community businesses.
