Congratulations to all the winners of the ABQ BioPark's first photo contest!
Grand Prize Winner
Just Imagine, by Claudia Rodriguez G.
Claudia captured a great moment with Hasani the Gorilla. Hasani was born at the Zoo and is one of the BioPark's male bachelors. He is great friends with Tuli, another young gorilla, and quite the "momma's boy."
Jellyfish, by Robert H. Dunn
Robert came to the Aquarium looking for a challenge. With his Nikon D-7000 camera in hand, he used a polarizing filter on a Nikon 10-24 mm lens. The filter cut down the glass reflections. We guess it worked, because this is a beautiful shot!
Day at the Beach - Category Winner
Hummingbird at Tingley Beach, by Twyla Kolb
Twyla and her husband were walking around Tingley Beach, camera in tow. Small, speedy hummingbirds are difficult to photograph midair, but Twyla patiently waited until this gorgeous bird that flew right into her photo frame. Snap!

Future Rio Line Engineer, by Cara Lewis
Cara's family loves the BioPark, especially their son Noah who can't get enough of the Rio Line and Thunderbird Express. To celebrate Noah's love of trains, Cara dressed the two-year old in his engineer overalls and grabbed his toolbox. We need some engineers like Noah! You can find more of Cara's photos by searching for "C. Marie Photography."

Bathing in Pollen, by Donna Ahrend
Donna's passion for nature has inspired her to share the wonders of wildlife with others through her stunning photographs. While visiting the Botanic Garden, Donna peered through her close-up camera lens to see several bumblebees covered in pollen. This particular bee allowed Donna to creep up close enough to capture this highly detailed image.
Splish! Splash! - Category Winner
Sea-horsing Around, by Kyle Hidalgo
Kyle took up photography as hobby four years ago, and he just got a new camera. He enjoys taking micro shots of nature and giving viewers a different perspective of familiar animals. During a visit to the Aquarium with his girlfriend, Kyle happened upon this seahorse, which was hanging out by the coral and holding still, like he was ready to model. Perfect timing!
