Wolf Awareness Days to Celebrate the Lobo

Visitors can learn more about the Mexican gray wolf re-introduction program, talk with keepers.
Oct. 12, 2018 - Wolves once roamed throughout the Southwest, but these iconic carnivores are now struggling to survive.

Visitors can learn more about Mexican wolves, conservation and the role the ABQ BioPark has played in their recovery at Wolf Awareness Days 2018. The event takes place from 10 a.m.-2 p.m. on October 17-19 at the Zoo.

The Mexican gray wolf was nearly wiped out during the last century, but thanks to breeding efforts like those at the ABQ BioPark, the apex predator is making a slow comeback.

Visitors who want to learn more about the BioPark's wolf pack can speak to zoo keepers during scheduled talks at 10 a.m. each day. Visitors also will have the opportunity to study bones and explore the adaptations that make wolves agile, expert hunters.
