04/20/2017 - World Penguin Day is April 25 and the ABQ BioPark is celebrating the occasion with a special penguin-themed event.
University of New Mexico-based researcher Tehnuka Ilanko will present Penguins, Glaciers and Volcanos: Exploration in Antarctica from 6:30-9 p.m. on Tuesday, April 25, at Rio Bravo Brewing Company in downtown Albuquerque.
Ilanka will talk about life in Antarctica at 7 p.m. Attendees will also get the opportunity to try Rio Bravo's newest brew, the limited edition Penguin Porter.
"We are excited to celebrate World Penguin Day and our upcoming Penguin Chill exhibit with this fun and informative event," said Keith Crow, bird department supervisor at the ABQ BioPark. "Attendees are sure to love sipping on the new Penguin Porter while listening to our presenter's fascinating story about her research in the Antarctic."
BioPark staff will be available to answer questions about the zoo's upcoming Penguin Chill exhibit. A silent auction will give attendees the opportunity to bid on several fun items - proceeds will benefit the BioPark's conservation programs.
Admission to the event is free and open to the public.
