Marine Mammals Celebration at the ABQ BioPark

Learn all about seals, polar bears and more at the Zoo and Aquarium.

March 13, 2018 - Marine mammals all over the world need our help with changing climate, polluted oceans and shrinking habitat, which has left many species in dire straits.

Attendees can learn more about marine mammals and what they can do to help during Marine Mammal Celebration this week at the ABQ BioPark. Events will occur daily from 10 a.m.-2 p.m on March 15-17 at the ABQ BioPark Zoo and Aquarium.

"Our actions here in New Mexico impact marine mammals thousands of miles away," said Pamela Dupzyk, ABQ BioPark Aquarium/Botanic Garden education coordinator. "Join the ABQ BioPark in learning why these animals are endangered and how your actions can help."

"We can help marine mammals from here in New Mexico through initiatives like the thermostat and no-idling challenges," said Audrey Lenzi, ABQ BioPark Zoo science education coordinator. "Visitors to our Marine Mammals Celebration will learn about these two initiatives and other ways they can get involved with helping the world's magnificent sea creatures on an everyday basis. Plus, they'll get to see some of our marine ambassadors at the Zoo and Aquarium."

Attendees can view and learn about polar bears and seals at the Zoo, and otters, dolphins and whales at the Aquarium.

There will also be special movie showings at the Aquarium Theater.

The event is included with regular admission.
