Winter Fun Ahead
The ABQ BioPark's River of Lights is welcoming a very special guest for the holidays.
Coming all the way from the North Pole, Santa will add holiday spirit to the event from 6-8 p.m. December 22 and from 7:45-9:30 p.m. December 23.
"This is our biggest and best River of Lights to date, and we are very excited to add to the holiday ambiance of the event this Tuesday and Wednesday with none other than St. Nick," said Maryann Torrez, ABQ BioPark Operations and Events Supervisor.
For those who can't make it this week, don't fret - the event will continue from 6 to 9:30 p.m. nightly until January 2, 2016, with closures on Dec. 24, 25, 31, and Jan. 1.
Event-goers can enjoy hot cocoa, gingerbread men, churros and other holiday treats at the Botanic Garden while they delight in the state's largest walk-through light show.
In 1997, River of Lights began as a fundraiser for the ABQ BioPark. Today, proceeds continue to support a variety of BioPark projects through the New Mexico BioPark Society. Each year's show unveils ingenious new sculptures and stunning displays made by BioPark artists and craftsmen.
