Celebrate Giraffes at the Zoo

ABQ BioPark to host educational event on World Giraffe Day.

June 19, 2018 - The ABQ BioPark Zoo will celebrate the world's longest necked animal on the longest day of the year.

World Giraffe Day will take place from 10 a.m.-2 p.m. on June 21 at the giraffe habitat.
"The giraffe is the world's tallest animal, but they're listed as vulnerable to extinction," said Audrey Lenzi, ABQ BioPark Zoo education coordinator. "Come help us celebrate this unique species while learning about what you can do to help protect giraffes from here in New Mexico."
Attendees can get hands on at the giraffe exhibit with giraffe themed discovery stations and crafts. Visitors can feed the giraffes from noon-1:30 p.m. for $2. A giraffe zookeeper will give a special chat at 11 a.m.
The BioPark's giraffe herd welcomed some new faces in 2017 - Jambazi, whose first birthday was June 12, and Malika, who was born in October. The herd also includes Buccaneer, June, Camila and Niara.

The event is included with regular admission.
