ABQ BioPark Looking For Garden Volunteers

Green thumbs are needed to help with plants, train enthusiasts to tend garden railroad at the Botanic Garden.
10/13/2017 - The ABQ BioPark is looking for plant and train enthusiasts to help at the Botanic Garden.

An orientation session for horticulture and garden railroad volunteers will occur from 9:30 a.m.-3:30 p.m. on Oct. 19 in the Botanic Garden and Aquarium Education Building. Those interested should fill out an online applicationfirst. 

"Horticulture volunteers get to increase their plant knowledge and practical gardening skills, not to mention learn great gardening tips from staff," said Deborah Zavala, ABQ BioPark volunteer and school programs specialist. "And for our train enthusiasts, we have positions available to help operate and maintain the Botanic Garden's G-scale model trains exhibit."

Anyone can come to this free training, and no prior knowledge is necessary - all volunteers will be trained by BioPark staff. Attendees should inform the front gate cashier that they are going to volunteer orientation.
