Learn how G-scale model trains can brighten up a backyard.
October 16, 2013
The BioPark Botanic Garden hosts the annual Train Tracks in your Garden Show from 9 a.m. - 5 p.m. on Oct. 19 and 20. Learn about G-scale model trains, see the Botanic Garden’s model train displays and learn how to make your own loops at home during this fun, family-friendly event. The event also occurs during Half-Price Weekend, which lets guests enjoy the Botanic Garden, Zoo and Aquarium at a discounted price.
Enthusiasts from the New Mexico Garden Railroaders Club (NMGRR) will show guests how to introduce motion, sound and color into their gardens with g-scale trains and miniature landscapes. Club members will also showcase their personal collection, answer questions and offer advice on how to make a garden display at home. Special displays for this annual event include electric and live steam trains and trains carrying well-known characters
“We see both children and adults enjoying our permanent exhibit at Railroad Hill and the special runs setup for the show,” said Jon Stewart, Curator of Plants. “The fun is in the details. We love how the club members create entire worlds with tiny towns, miniature plantings and the colorful model trains themselves.”
Enjoy the model train displays during Half-Price Weekend. On Oct 19 and 20, all single admission tickets will be 50% off regular price. Before or after visiting the train show, you can venture into Creeping, Crawling and Carnivorous in the Botanic Garden Showroom and watch as divers feed fish in the Aquarium’s colorful reef exhibits and Shark Tank.
