The ABQ BioPark's River of Lights is on track to break attendance records in 2012. Even with recent cold weather, attendance is up about 18% and expected to continue growing with the mild weather forecasts for the final week and a half.
Funds raised from River of Lights go directly to BioPark facilities, staff and animal supplies, as well as promoting conservation efforts and school outreach.
"Guests seem to be really enjoying themselves," said Maryann Torrez, BioPark Special Events Manager. "We're excited to offer a great event that has become a tradition for many families. Plus, each guest is helping support the BioPark and our conservation efforts with their ticket purchase."
The lights are on from 6 p.m. - 10 p.m. through Dec. 30 (closed Dec. 24 & 25). Free park and ride service from the Zoo by bus and Tingley Beach by train get guests into the park quickly and help to relieve traffic.
Tickets are $10 for adults (13+) and $5 for children (3-12). There are no senior or member discounts for this special fundraiser. Purchase tickets online or at the gate from 5:30 p.m. Group discounts are available from the New Mexico BioPark Society by calling 505-764-6212.
