'Supper with Santa' and 'Holiday Dining' are available through January 5.
December 10, 2013
The River of Lights has become a holiday tradition for many families in New Mexico. Now guests can also dine at the Shark Reef Café, located on the Aquarium/Garden Plaza. The restaurant hosts Supper with Santa through Dec. 23 and offers Holiday Dining from Dec. 26 - Jan. 5 (closed Dec. 24, 25, 31 and Jan. 1). The holiday buffet is open from 5 - 9 p.m. each night.
A Christmas tree and spectacular views of the Shark Tank decorate the Shark Reef Café. During Supper with Santa, Santa Claus will arrive at 5:30 p.m. to greet and take pictures with guests. After Dec. 23, Holiday Dining will continue, but Santa will not be present.
"From 20-foot light sculptures to carolers, River of Lights offers a variety of entertainment this holiday season," said Catherine Hubbard, Botanic Garden Manager. "We're happy to add to the festivities by opening the Shark Reef Café in the evenings. Supper with Santa and Holiday Dining help round out the whole experience and warm up guests before or after the walk through the Botanic Garden."
In addition to the buffet in the Shark Reef Café, food and snack stands will be open throughout the Botanic Garden and in the Heritage Farm. Alcohol will be served on select nights. No outside alcohol is permitted.
River of Lights twinkles through Jan. 5 (closed Dec. 24, 25, 31 and Jan. 1). Live music, Holiday Nature Crafts, free park and ride and the G-Scale model train are included with regular admission. For information about these activities, visit http://bit.ly/riveroflights.
Supper with Santa and Holiday Dining are not included with admission. Walk-ins are welcome, and visitors can call ahead to check on wait times (reservations are not accepted). The Shark Reef Café can be reached at 505-848-7182.
