Daffodils and calla lilies add to the already colorful Conservatory.
March 1, 2013
Spring is almost here, and the ABQ BioPark Botanic Garden is celebrating with the lively Bulbs in Bloom Show, open daily from 9 a.m. - 5 p.m. through March 31. Arrangements of cut daffodils greet visitors and 200 yellow, white and red calla lilies fill the Mediterranean Conservatory with brilliant color and memorable beauty.
Blooming daffodils are sure signs of spring, and the Conservatory's stunning calla lilies and Clivia miniata help usher in the new season. Many anthuriums and cyclamen originally planted for last month's Winter Fire Colors Show continue to bloom, adding to the rich floral palette. The beauty of blooms is fleeting, so catch them now before it's too late.
"No matter what the weather is like, there is beauty to enjoy indoors at the Bulbs in Bloom Show and outdoors, too," said Catherine Hubbard, Botanic Garden Manager. "Our outdoor bulbs seem to be a little late this year, but daffodils and tulips are emerging. Hellebores, crocus, species iris, winter aconite and snow drops are already flowering in our outside gardens."
Indoors and out, the Botanic Garden is the perfect place to welcome warmer weather, emerging bulbs, leafing trees, chirping birds and afternoon picnics. Connect with us on Facebook and Twitter to get the latest updates about signs of spring.
The Bulbs in Bloom Show is included with regular admission. For more information, email firstname.lastname@example.org or dial 311 locally (505-768-2000).
