Become a Garden Railroad Volunteer at the BioPark

With working model trains and intricate scenery, the Garden Railroad exhibit is a guest favorite, and the ABQ BioPark Botanic Garden is seeking volunteers to maintain and run it. Become a Garden Railroad Volunteer and bring smiles to the young and young-at-heart. Training begins April 26 at the Botanic Garden, from 9:30 a.m. to noon. No experience is needed and anyone age 18 and over is welcome to attend.

Garden Railroad Volunteers operate and maintain the model train exhibit, including tracks, trains, landscaping and villages. Garden Railroad Volunteers also answer the public's questions about the various trains in operation. If you have great social skills and would like to understand how scale-model train displays work, this opportunity is right for you.

"One reason guests love the Garden Railroad so much is our enthusiastic and engaging volunteers," said Kathryn Venzor, BioPark Education Curator. "They help create a friendly environment where visitors can not only enjoy the train and miniature scenery, but also ask questions about the railroad and its operation."

Volunteering at the BioPark is a great way to get involved with the community or meet new people. Volunteers also receive special benefits including free general admission to any BioPark facility, invitations to special volunteer-only events, and special discounts at food vendors, restaurants and gift shops throughout the BioPark.

You can fill out a volunteer application online or call (505) 848-7172.
