The 16th Annual Ancient Art of Bonsai Show will be Saturday and Sunday, May 11 and 12 from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. daily. Members of the Albuquerque Bonsai Club show off their best bonsai trees at the Botanic Garden Showroom this Mother's Day weekend.

Bonsai varieties cover a range of styles and species of trees, including native New Mexico species such as Alligator Juniper, Piñon and Mountain Mahogany. Bonsai demonstrations and informational exhibits will reveal the processes involved in creating these ornamental, miniature trees.

"We are thrilled to co-sponsor this event with the Albuquerque Bonsai Club again," said Catherine Hubbard, Botanic Garden Manager. "Bonsai is an ancient art, but the techniques for design and culture are in a constant and intense state of change from year to year."

Bonsai enthusiasts will answer questions and share information about the ancient art. The Bonsai Show completes the Botanical Garden's spring indoor show season. It is included with regular admission.
