About The Blue Hornets
The Blue Hornets are a rocksteady/reggae/ska band based in Albuquerque, NM -- born in 2009 from various accomplished pieces of previous and current reggae, ska, and other genre bands from around Albuquerque, including Giant Steps, Cool Runnins, Beat Fetish, Danny Wynn and the Earthlings, Aladocious, Sub Agencia, Mystic Vision, Le Chat Lunatique, and others.
The Blue Hornets sound is a unique blend of influences based around the roots of Jamaican rocksteady, ska, and reggae from the island’s bluebeat musical heyday of the ‘60s and ‘70s. Their musical style is a bouncy and energetic traditional rocksteady/reggae style, featuring smooth vocal harmonies, catchy horn melodies, and a solid skanking rhythm section, that harkens back to the golden age of this wonderful music. Through their combined experiences and musical styles, the Blue Hornets bring a danceable, entertaining performance to their live shows.
