View local artists' arrangements and discover the subtle allure of this Japanese art on Oct. 4 - 5.
An exhibition of Ikebana will be held on Saturday and Sunday, October 4 and 5, in the Botanic Garden Showroom. The exhibition will open at 9 a.m. and close at 5 p.m. daily. The exhibition is sponsored by the Ikebana International Chapter #41.
The art of Ikebana is over 500 years old and was very popular among Buddhist monks due to its fleeting beauty. It later became popular among the public and was used during holidays and ceremonies, as well as for decoration. Today, Ikebana is extremely popular around the world, with several schools, clubs and organizations establishing new chapters each year.
Ikebana is said to reflect the personality of the artist and conveys the simple yet complex beauty of nature in one balanced frame. Come view local artists’ arrangements at the Botanic Garden and discover the subtle allure of Ikebana in person.
