Description
This special show features nature's darkest and most dangerous insects, arachnids and flesh-eating plants. Get a bug's eye-view and learn how these creatures are a vital part of our environment.
This year's show will provide a sneak peek into the Insectarium that is scheduled to open at the Botanic Garden in 2014. The new year-round exhibit will feature fascinating stories of bugs from all corners of the Earth.
Perfect for Halloween
Are you brave enough to come eye-to-eyes with a tarantula? With beetles, scorpions, cockroaches and more, this show is a great adventure for the Halloween season.This living exhibition will be wriggling, writhing, squirming and slithering in the Botanic Garden Showroom through Nov. 3.
Bug Haiku Contest
Students are encouraged to enter our bug haiku contest. Winners' poems will be displayed in this year’s Creeping, Crawling and Carnivorous show right next to awesome insects, arachnids and flesh-eating plants!
- Grade levels: K-12
- Haiku format: line 1 has 5 syllables, line 2 has 7 syllables and line 3 has 5 syllables.
- Deadline: Oct. 18, 2013.
- Submit poem with your name, school, grade level and contact info to biopark@cabq.gov or BioPark Education, 2601 Central Ave NW, Albuquerque, NM 87104.
